Carlvin Burnett making waves with original music

Many may know the Berbician star, Carlvin Burnett from his debut to the music industry in 2009, when he demonstrated at the then ‘GT&T Jingle and Song Competition’, that he is one of Guyana’s best vocalists and an impeccable performer.

From 2009 to date, the sentiments of the people have remained the same as he continues to show off his ability to stand out in the industry, with his vocal capability and versatility, tied with his persona and humour, which gives him the ability to command and entertain any audience he performs for.

However, the artiste is best known for performing covers of popular songs people know and love, given the oddities of the local industry. However, 2022 has seen an immense shift in his career, as he is now pushing more of his own music.

While he did release a few of his own in the past, “born and grow”, “summer time” and “bun thing freestyle” to name a few, this year has seen him forging a stronger path of originality, with consistent releases and the fans are going crazy.

His first release of 2022 was “Broken” feat. Freedom Boss, and that certainly set the pace and trajectory for his other releases. The fans’ reactions and support was profound as was evident in the thousands of views, reactions, shares and comments it amassed across social media platforms.

Burnett kept the momentum, releasing shortly after, “Charge” with Officer Bling and Freedom Boss, a humorous and entertaining song that was also well-received by the fans across social media platforms.

Most recently, “still I rise” and “small days” were released, only receiving positive feedback.

It is noteworthy to mention that all these release were produced by Guyanese producer, Joel Browne, who goes by the alias “Joey2Kool“.

Burnett said there’s more in the pipeline and fans can expect to be fed with more and more releases in the coming months as music is his first and lasting ‘love’.

He said he started singing since the age of five, “so nothing else feels right”.

“…Music became one of the only things that would calm me down. I had many opportunities to do different things: Nursing, computer tech, I was even signed up for Caribbean Union College. But the love for music took me along a different path,” Burnett said. Adding that his fans are his inspiration, and they are responsible for him being committed to music for all these years.

“Seeing them smile; seeing them having a good time is inspiring enough to keep doing what I do. You never know sometimes what a person might be going through, and to have them come up to you and tell you that you changed their day, or you are an inspiration to them is indeed a blessing, and again enough inspiration and motivation for me,” he said.
