What to eat at your staff party

The holiday season is upon us and we have worked so hard on our fitness journey that we don’t want this one month of splurge to set us ten steps back. We all have a few parties to crash so we’re talking about being tempted by foods loaded with cheese, high calorie alcoholic beverages and sugary goodness. I have got some good news. You can attend your staff party and still maintain a healthy balance but you gotta do some of the things listed below.

Choose your portions wisely at the buffet

You can sample everything, but you have to ensure your plate is balanced. For the quantity you eat, average 50% carbs (rice, quinoa, corn etc.), 30% protein (chicken, fish), 20% fat ( salmon, or anything cheesy although foods such as mac and cheese, are usually high in carbs too but hey, it’s Christmas). Do not forget your veggies!

Do not go staff party hungry

Do not get gluttonous as you may eat too much and feel extremely full and uncomfortable. You gotta look good and feel good to have a great time.

Drink lots of water

For those who may drink alcohol, ensure to have a glass of water for each glass of alcohol. You may have a lot of potty breaks too, but water will help you to feel full thereby helping you to resist the buffet table for round two and avoid a hangover.

Workout before your party

Do not roll your eyes at this point. A good exercise session will affect your metabolic rate, causing you to burn fat while at rest for more than 24 hours.

Have a good time

Dance! This too is a workout and would help burn some calories.

Go to your parties. Eat. Just be prepared to cut back in January ????

Merry Christmas!
