Why Patrice Roberts is the perfect pick to kickstart Guyana Carnival 2022 events

“I gan, drink water and mind my business” is enough reason! This song was a major hit, going viral in just a few days after its release in December 2021 – penetrating all borders, with Guyana being no exception.

This was everybody’s mantra at the start of 2022, and it hit home because with all the craziness that has been happening in the world, the ultimate self-care routine was Patrice’s advice – Drink water, and mind yuh business!

But outside of that obvious reason, there is no question that Guyanese and practically everyone from across the Caribbean region, are inherently soca fanatics.

In the cultural context, Soca music is one that we can definitely say, without a shadow of doubt, “IS WE OWN”, and it plays a major role in unifying us as a “Caribbean Community”. Just look at us during the Carnival, Mas, Mashramani and Crop Over seasons. Imagine those without soca music…

With its (Soca Music) origin in Trinidad and Tobago, it definitely isn’t a coincidence that the Giants in the Soca arena are Trinidadians. A few of the top names being Machel Montano of course, Kes, Destra, Bunji Garlin, Voice, Fay-Ann Lyons, Nailah Blackman and not forgetting Patrice Roberts.

And while there are so many artistes who have done extremely well in the industry over the years, it cannot go unnoticed, that PATRICE ROBERTS is ONE OF, if not THEE most consistent female soca artiste.

Trinidad soca

She has a demonstrated history of producing hit songs, year after year. This is one artiste who can perform a full hour set or even more, of songs that everyone knows without boring the audience.

Take this mix for example

1 hour, 18 minutes and 25 seconds and which one of these yuh ain’t know?

And what is even more commendable, is that she was consistent with hits, even during the pandemic!

Tender love, Better days, Soca Therapy, Toxic Love, Mind yuh business, just to name a few excluding the many collaborations.

The past two years have been tough on everyone, but Patrice kept the music coming.

So who better to kickstart the carnival activities with, fresh out the pandemic?

Cricket Carnival

The event is set for today, Wednesday May 25th at Marriott beach, themed “Touchdown Cooler Party” and I will be doing everything except drinking water and minding my business.

See you there! ????
